Stylist Spotlight

This week I was invited to be in our teams “Stylist Spotlight“!

I was honored to be asked! Here are the questions and answers I was asked to share for the spotlight. I am thrilled to share!

Q: Why did I decide on Color Street?
A: I had a very pesky friend who kept asking me about it. Hahaha!
No seriously, I saw the potential in not only the product but the company. Everyone who polishes their nails wants it to be pretty and easy and when I couldn’t stop thinking about how revolutionary this product is and that it was start up company (and still is), I hopped on board with my pesky friend. *mwah (my “pesky” friend was the lady interviewing me; this makes me giggle!)

Q: What was the first style you tried on?
A: Tokyo Lights baby!
I was only going to put an accent nail on until I saw how easy it was and before I knew it I was all fingers and all toes full of glitter!

Q: How has Color Street made a Difference in your life?
A:
Outside of the people I get to meet and work with in Color Street, I have been most financially successful in the direct sales industry while with Color Street. Our business is not always easy but its simple, so when you toss an easy and simple product into the mix, bam! Success!

Q: What’s your life’s motto?
A:
Be kind. Lead with your heart and show bravery in everything you do.

Be Kind. Be a Leader. Be Brave.

Q: What is your number one tip for success in Color Street?
1. BE GENUINE. Build your relationships and network based off of being genuine and you will have followers, customers and be able to grow a team who is genuine as well.
2. BE CONSISTENT. Even when you think no one is watching, they are. When you feel like giving up, don’t. Keep going. Consistency is KEY.
3. BE UNIQUE. Do you! When you try to build your business like someone else, it just goes all wrong. Use others as inspiration and build a strong foundation and brand that is all you.
4. BE COACHABLE. Learn from the best. Seek them out and soak it in. Implement what you are being taught. You can be forever a student in the field so take what you are being coached to do and implement it while being genuine, consistent and unique.

I got the skills to pay the bills, what do I do?

This blog is all about me; Time to find out what I do. How do I make money? I can’t share my thoughts, my teachings and my life without mentioning it.

I run a business offering a product that solves a problem for the busy lady.  The lady I refer to is the one that likes to look pretty.  The lady that wants to feel put together even when she is really feeling like a hot mess express.

Paint this picture: no makeup, yoga pants, hair in a top not; (this is me most of the time) as we walk thru the day we are always looking at our hands AND I don’t know about you but when my hands look great, I feel great. (you know it’s true!)  It’s amazing how all the other parts of me seem to disappear – I always feel pretty fiery when my nails are on point.  (can I still say “on point”  at almost 50 years old?)

Let me give you a bit of a back story, sidetracking for just a few moments.  Stay with me. I was a stay at home mom for about 15 years before the world of Direct Sales entered my life.  (did you just sigh? worried I might spam you? don’t worry! I am not that girl) I am quite certain a revolution needs to happen to educate everyone on how NOT to spam your friends with your product or the notion that everyone wants to JOIN your team (insert palm to face right about now).  I would like to invite you to check out my video about how I hate the words “JOIN MY TEAM” (baby vomit – ugh!

Ok, back to the task at hand…. I embarked into the Direct Sales world on a whim with a makeup company.  I had no idea what the hell I was doing.  This particular company, in my humble opinion transformed Direct Sales; introducing the online party format to Facebook.  This changed my life, my career choices and opened the door to the possibility that I could contribute financially to our household and actually make a difference.  I finally had a career (that I didn’t know at the time I would love) all from the comfort of my home.

I will skip all the in between (for now) –  Let me fast forward to the day that dry nail polish entered my life.

I met a lady, on Facebook, of course.  She invited me to her brand spanking new business launch party.  I literally rolled my eyes when I got the message.  I did not want to know anything about her new business. (insert eye roll)  I cautiously went to her launch party.  Truth be told? I solely went out of respect for a fellow DS lady.  I wanted to support her.  I even placed a small order.  I wanted to hate it.  I tried it.  You guessed it – I didn’t hate it at all; in fact, I fell in love.  Damn it!

I couldn’t stop staring at my fingers, they glistened with a rose gold glitter that I never thought I would adorn and yet here I was staring at my nails and wanting to know more about this product and this company.   You see, this new company, with a revolutionized product, that has a 30 year process to get it where it is today (mind blowing!) was spreading like wildfire in the direct sales world (and it hasn’t slowed down one bit).  I tried so hard to ignore it.  After a couple months, I could ignore it no more.  I jumped in. Feet first.

At some point, I plan to share my Direct Sales journey; the road from company to company and how and why the dry nail polish company has brought me the most success (so follow this blog so you don’t miss it!)

For the record, just to tease you a bit – I turned this opportunity down three times.

For now, let me introduce you to Color Street dry nail polish!

To say that I am blown away that I actually make money slinging dry nail polish and leading a team is an understatement.  In fact, I make even more money at this somewhat part time, stay at home job than I did when I worked full time, gone from my house and kids for 40 hours a week.  Someone pinch me because I must be dreaming!

There are a couple of things going on right now:

  1. You already know about the product, after all Color Street is becoming a household name and you aren’t surprised that it’s a successful business venture or
  2. You just watched my application video and you are sitting with your mouth wide open because you aren’t sure about what you have just witnessed (could polishing your nails be THAT easy?) The answer is Yes, now close your mouth.

If either of those are you then you might want to have a chat with me about what actually goes into being a stylist and if the opportunity is the right fit for you.  Please don’t “join my team”; its icky and gross and I don’t want any part of it.  This makes me laugh out loud because I really despise those words (did you watch my video yet?)  What I would love instead is for you to have a hunger for answers.  Make it a quest to connect with me; ask questions, get to know me and decide if I am the leader you want to work with. Is Color Street the right fit for you? and is slinging dry nail polish and owning your own business your jam?

Consider this: You won’t know unless you ask.  Information doesn’t cost a thing and I am spam free.
